Rainbow Bay is situated on the southern Gold Coast of Queensland and if family beach fun is what you are after you're sure to find it here.
In fact it is famous for its glorious views of the whole Gold Coast skyline. It is wedged between Greenmount and Snapper Rocks.
This area is a popular destination for families due to is safe swimming conditions. It has surf patrols on the beaches all year round for that extra peace of mind.
Shelley from Corowa told us 'We have only been there once, but have decided that we are going to make it our annual holiday destination.'
So if you head to Rainbow Bay ensure that you take the time to dine at the local Surf Club, you'll enjoy a great meal, whether it is at lunch or dinner as well as support the Surf Life Saving Club at the same time.
Shelley also told us "The Rainbow Bay Surf Club was very good for kids, as it has a nice big balcony area looking over the beach, the view kept them entertained...for a little bit!"
That said there are heaps of restaurants along the beach at Coolangatta, which is only approximately 5 minutes walk from Rainbow Bay.
You can pretty much eat at a different restaurant each night; Shelley advised us she found them all to be very family friendly. Rainbow Bay itself is a low key location, with a setting for relaxation. The beach feels safe, even if taking a family walk in the evenings.
The beach is clean with numerous playgrounds for the kids to investigate and enjoy, so they will definitely not get bored. Plus you'll fine you are surrounded by like minded families looking for family beach fun, this is not a big party or singles scene!
But if you're worried this is not going to be enough to keep everyone entertained, action is only a short distance away.
If you have a car, or hire one entertainment options are endless.Take a half hour drive around the bend to some of Queensland's most popular theme parks, Movie World, White Water World just to name a few.
Or for something a little bit different a 45 minute drive south down the Pacific Highway will see you hit Byron Bay.
If mum and dad are looking for some time to themselves as well, the bay is located close to great shopping centres and golf courses, so there is definitely something here to amuse everyone.
There are loads of markets on in the surrounding area too, with up to 13 markets around there is one on everyone weekend, so don't panic, if you love a good market you're sure to find one when you're there.
If your kids love the animal parks, check out Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. It is famous for it's collection of Kangaroo's, Koala's, birds and reptiles; in fact it has the world's largest Australian Native Wildlife Collection.
For a bit of action the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary even has its own miniature railway.
They have regular wildlife shows you can attend including their Bird Spectacular. Again this is something best visited with a car.
So if you are looking for a great Queensland getaway with loads of family beach fun, but don't want to get trapped in the crowds of the gold coast, venture out to Rainbow Bay.
Everything is still very accessible; however you can also enjoy the peach and tranquility it has to offer, in a fun and safe family environment.
