Gold Coast - Australia
Gold Coast - Australia
We went to the Gold Coast with our 14 month old. I was pregnant at the time too with number 2.
It was a lovely relaxing holiday, the weather was perfect.
We stayed about 10 minutes away from the main hub at the Gold Coast, which meant that we pretty much could walk to most things, including the shops, some tourist attractions and the beach.
Good thing is in this area more than every second building is a tourist accommodation unit so you're sure to be able to do the same if you go.
We did go to Harbour Town shopping one day when it was wet and we went to Dream World too, we caught a bus for both of these day trips.
Fortunately the place where we were staying arranged it for us for a small fee. We felt it was more convenient than trying to catch the local public transport system as the bus picked us up and dropped us back at our resort. Very handy when you have a baby.
I guess it is fair to say this holiday was more about us as adults than a family getaway. Because our daughter really didn't reap the rewards of the getaway like perhaps a school age child might. But she certainly enjoyed herself all the same.
I think the Gold Coast in Australia is a great family holiday destination at any age. There are plenty of family friendly resorts, or loads of other things to do if you're the touristy type.
And I think it's one of those places you could go back again and again, and certainly find different things to do. Although I would assume most families would go for a relaxing, swimming holiday or theme park getaway.
I can't wait to the kids are a bit older and we will definitely be doing the theme park holiday.
Recommend it!
