Our most recent getaway was to Port Fairy, Victoria Australia. This vacation allowed us to check out the Port Fairy Caravan Parks.
There are a number of Port Fairy Caravan Parks; however we opted to stay at the Port Fairy Big 4 Caravan Park.
We basically picked the location for our getaway based on the fact that we liked the look of the caravan park.
First and foremost it had an indoor swimming pool. (We knew it was going to be way too cold to be hanging out on the beach everyday, so this allowed the kids the option to still go swimming everyday. Being on site was a great perk).
It also had an awesome jumping pillow. Quite frankly if you've got children of any age, a jumping pillow will provide hours of fun. It was seriously a meeting place for families to gather. Tom spent most of his time there getting to know other children, and with sand surrounding the pillow the kids used their beach supplies playing in the sand too.
Other great things this caravan park has to offer include:
A great playground
Go Kart Hire
Video hire (with a great range of choice)
And during the school holidays a kids activity program.
One tip I would give any parent would be to pick a cabin as close to the play area as possible. There were a number to pick from at this park and that ensured we (the parents) were able to sit back and relax indoors and out and keep and eye on the kids at all times.
Whilst we were there, we snapped up a special that entitled us to a free go kart ride and unlimited movie hire. These were both great options. The go kart was an activity that was 'outside the square' and I got stuck not only driving my own kids around the park but I think most of the other kids too. Great exercise apparently!
And as for the movie hire, the kids got to watch some of their favorite movies including new releases, which were perfect for after dinner / bath time or any quiet time that was needed.
There are a number of accommodation options available, from cabins, to ensuite sites and other camping sites. We stayed in a two bedroom cabin and found it had everything we needed.
We loved staying at the Port Fairy Big 4 Caravan Park and would give it a 'thumbs up' to anyone that asked. Funnily enough that is how we found out about it, through word of mouth.
If we head down that way again, we'd be sure to stop by, it was a great family experience.
(Note: I wrote this review because we had a fabulous stay, I was not paid nor compensated for this review).
