This is pretty cool, I'll definitely be looking to give these a go.
Like you said, when they are only half full they will only take up half the room, not like the kids drink bottles which take up loads of room regardless of how much is in it.
Also you'll always have a good idea how much is in them. Therefore you'll be less likely to run out five minutes after you've left the house / your destination.
